Selecting this button gives you the following options:

Check all your accounts
A List of Configured Accounts follows. Select any single account to only download mail from that account.
Address Book
Select this to open the new Address Book
Essentially this does the same as the Check Mail Icon.
As of Stable release 0.2.1 CronosII has an Address book. Development is underway and much progress has been made to adding all sorts of features. This feature may soon support VCard and Groupware type environments and will certainly be in a state of rapid change.
For now I suggest you have a look at the function and see what you think. Any suggestions and observations will be gratefully received and noted by the developers via the CronosII mailing lists. the Section called Authors and Contributors in the chapter called Extensions, and other information
This opens a simple fold out that will eventually allow you to undertake searches of the contents of your mail.
The Default Keyboard Shortcut is Alt + e (then f )
This menu opens out to give you a selection of fields to display above the message window while reading your mail.
From: This message was sent by...
Account: The mail account you received this from
To: Who this message has been sent to.
CC: Who else has been Carbon Copied this mail.
BCC: Blind Carbon Copy.
Date: The date you received this mail.
Subject: The Subject header for this mail.
Priority: A send importance ranking....
see the Section called Receivers Address for more information about the fields.
Default Keyboard Shortcut is Alt + A
Selecting Mailbox allows you to choose between :
This function becomes useful on very large mailboxes or when you have very many mailboxes to work with.
It is not required for effective operation of Cronos II for daily use even where you may receive some hundreds of emails.
You might find this of use if your mailboxes are taking more than say 2 seconds to open or when you have a massive amount of mail to delete.
This function is not enabled by default as it uses an experimental algorithm. Potentially this could corrupt your mailbox index files so try it out on non critical mail first, and or archive your .CronosII directories. e.g.(tar Icvf ~/.CronosII-backup.bz2 .CronosII/)
See the source code for a better understanding.
I am not aware of any users having problems with this function
Default Keyboard Shortcut is Alt + A then I
This opens the Import Mailbox Dialog
This dialog has three main fields.
Mailbox Type
With a fold out selection box. Currently only "Spool" will be shown, however CronosII successfully imports Pine and Netscape ver4.x Mailboxes and I'm sure many other types would be successful as well.
The primary function of this is to allow you to import your /var/mail or /var/spool/mail mailbox.
Destination Mailbox
A scroll-able list of your configured mailboxes
Choose the Mailbox you wish to import into.
File entry-field
Here you find a text entry area with a navigation button ( .. ) on the right hand side.
Selecting this button opens the "Select a File" Dialog.
![]() | By default this opens to the /var/spool/mail directory, you may however navigate to any other directory you wish. |
Mouse-over help is given on all icons at the top of the dialog. Scroll-bars are included at the Directory and file level and text entry is possible through the bottom text field.
![]() | The Home Icon takes you to your home directory |
Choose the mailbox you require.
Double-click the file or select and click OK.
![]() | The Select a File Dialog disappears |
Check you have selected the destination mailbox
Select OK.
The progress bar will show you the action as it happens (usually VERY quickly)
Choose the mailbox you loaded the mails into and you should see new (marked as Unread) mail waiting for your attention.
Exporting a mailbox is a lot like Importing a mailbox (only backwards).
Here are the steps
Select the Mailbox Menu.
(From the Main Window Text Tool Bar)
The Export Mailbox Dialog Opens
Select the Mailbox you wish to Export
(Choose from the scroll-able list.)
Enter the new file name in the text entry field near the bottom.
Or Navigate to the required directory and file via the "Button on the right hand side of the text entry field"
The Select A File dialog opens from this.
Close that dialog when your ready
Check "OK"
All going well ... Your Done.
